Who is Command Spanish®, Inc.? Command Spanish®, Inc. is America's #1 provider of occupational Spanish and cross-cultural programs and seminars for working adults. The company's management team consists of Spanish professors, specialists in language acquisition and learning theory, specialists in curriculum development and curriculum design, and experts in Hispanic culture. All programs and workshops are the result of careful research and on-the-job shadowing. They are reviewed by practitioner consultants and native Spanish-speakers. [BACK TO TOP]
What is occupational Spanish? The newest field in language learning is occupational Spanish. Adults attending an occupational Spanish class learn only the Spanish phrases, questions, and commands needed for their specific job requirements. There is no attempt to teach the whole language. Nurses learn how to assist and treat patients in Spanish, not to discuss the weather. Police officers are taught how to arrest criminals in Spanish, not to order tacos in a restaurant. What is an Official Registered Provider (ORP)? An Official Registered Provider (ORP) is an instructional unit of a college that has sent an administrator (not necessarily a Spanish speaker) to a Command Spanish® îTeaching Occupational Spanishî seminar for certification. This administrator will serve as the responsible person for arranging either credit or non-credit classes and seminars for open-enrollment or for contract training. The administrator (and his or her designees) will promote job-specific occupational Spanish and cross-cultural training for professionals and will be responsible for staffing those classes. To download the official document entitled, "Terms and Conditions of Certification for a Command Spanish® Official Register Provider," click here. NOTE: While Command Spanish® Certified Instructors may order Command Spanish® programs and utilize them in their own classes, (either credit or non-credit), instructor certification DOES NOT authorize instructional units to market or promote itself as an Official Registered Provider of Command Spanish® programs and training. Each instructional unit at a college wishing to promote and market Command Spanish® classes must have ORP certification. Some examples of ORPs are: Workforce Development Offices, Continuing Education Divisions, Contract Training Units, Outreach Programs, and Foreign Language Departments. [BACK TO TOP]

The Spanish instructors for an ORP may either be Command Spanish® Certified Instructors, or may be secondarily trained instructors. ORP status is not transferable from one department to another without the express written permission of Command Spanish®, Inc. When an ORP meets the performance criterion outlined in the "Terms and Conditions," active status is for a twelve-month period, renewable annually, at no charge. [BACK TO TOP]

CSCI may offer Command Spanish® training as private individuals, through public or private agencies, or they may work as instructors for LORPs, ORPs, or may use Command Spanish® programs in courses offered by colleges or instructional units that are not certified by Command Spanish®, Inc.
